Lisa Smith

Born:
I was born on March 8, 1967 in New Jersey. I grew up in Connecticut.

Home:
I moved to New Mexico in 1989. I live outside of the village of Canada de los Alamos, near Santa Fe, in the adobe house I built with my husband. In January of 2004, my beautiful son Indigo Abel was born at home!

Education:
I graduated in 1989 with a BFA in Ceramics and minor in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.

Work Experience:
I’ve held several jobs teaching art to kids. Since 1991, I’ve been able to focus on my work as a full time studio artist.
 
Related Skills and Experiences:
I’ve worked with Bread and Puppet Theater in Vermont and All Species Day in Santa Fe, both environmentally and socially conscious theater groups helping to educate and unite people through art. I have done post-graduate studies with James Tanner, Gina Bobrowski and Sana Musasama. Traveling is an invaluable source of inspiration and learning, and I have journeyed to Central and South America, Italy and to India and Nepal.
